  26. With apologies to the off-topic police, I have a general question
  27. about an old Micropolis SCSI drive:

  29. I was _given_ a Micropolis 1684-07 (approx. 350 MB) SCSI drive by
  30. the network administrator at work, for our use on our control
  31. room Amiga 2000.  It is in an external case w/power supply and
  32. fan.  I got it running straightaway, but then it began acting up. 
  33. I am in accordance with the GVP SCSI termination requirements
  34. (internal chain _unterminated_ in the presence of an external
  35. device) and it runs fine for a while, but after a couple of hours
  36. it begins giving me errors...things like read errors on block
  37. xxxxx, and unvalidating.  I felt the top of the external case and
  38. it felt warm...not hot, but warm.  My question is this: Is it
  39. possible that the drive or its associated electronics are somehow
  40. thermally reactive?

  42. The drive is sitting at home right now, I took it there for
  43. testing purposes, and this happened again last night.  Am I SOL
  44. on this or does anyone have _some_ idea what might be happening?

  48. ObLightWave: I see that the "wish list" may very well make it
  49. into future 'Wave versions.  Good!  To that end, let's hope the
  50. global/local coordinates choice ends up there too.  Yes, this is
  51. a thin one, but just to get back (more or less) to the nature of
  52. the list...
